Why Shirley Ballas had a facelift
In the past few months, everyone has noticed how youthful Shirley is looking. But until now she kept the details of her high-tech skincare treatments to herself. With everyone speculating over what surgery Shirley has had, it may come as a surprise to find out that it wasn’t surgery at all!
Shirley said: “This time last year I was conscious that my jawline was sagging and hanging a bit, my skin looked dull and a bit lifeless and I wanted to get rid of all my spider veins and tighten up the skin on my neck and chest. I wanted to look my very best but I really didn’t want to go under the knife, so I thought I would try this alternative route.”
Since February 2022, Shirley, 62, has been seeing one of the UK’s top cosmetic doctors for a series of the latest non-invasive procedures to rejuvenate her face and neck.
What is a non surgical facelift?
A non-surgical facelift uses non-invasive treatments and techniques to improve the appearance of your skin, face, neck, and jawline. Aesthetic treatments
Shirley booked a private consultation in London with Dr Todd at the beginning of last year after seeing the amazing results she achieved with non-invasive treatments on former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Judy Murray.
At the meeting she was given a bespoke aesthetic treatment programme tailored to her skin’s individual needs. It included high-tech energy treatments to reverse the ageing processes, reducing lines and wrinkles, and the sagging jawline. Plus, a daily topical skincare regime to alleviate pigmentation and improve hydration and skin quality.
NeoGen Plasma
The programme included regular NeoGen Plasma treatments, a state-of-the-art new procedure that uses nitrogen plasma pulses which deliver controlled high temperatures deep inside the skin tissues which massively boosts collagen and elastin production. In turn, this reduces lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity.
The NeoGen treatment takes around 30-minutes and was performed all over her face, including around the delicate eye area, and was specifically targeted along her jawline, as well as her chest and hands.
Shirley added: “These changes don’t happen overnight but over the course of six months I could see a huge difference and they are still continuing to get better. My jawline was much more defined, my skin was brighter and more youthful, my little veins and sunspots were gone, and everything started to look cleaner and clearer.

Morpheus8 skin tightening
In addition Shirley was also given some Morpheus8 skin tightening, which combines micro-needling and radio frequency treatments. Plus, she was prescribed Obagi topical skincare to use every day. Shirley also took natural G Herbal supplements to help speed skin repair and boost the nutrient levels in the skin. She also received some Emsculpt body contouring treatments on her stomach and flanks to tone her muscle and burn fat.
Shirley said: “When I had the NeoGen treatment I was impressed that there was so little downtime that I needed to take. I’m a very busy woman… but there was so little downtime that it really was a benefit to my way of life, and also non-invasive and a wonderful way to rejuvenate my face.
Also Dr Todd had some amazing ways to speed the recovery as well and she used numbing creams to make the treatments as comfortable as possible. It wasn’t overly painful but I wouldn’t say it was entirely pain-free either, but the little bit of pain was definitely worth the result.”
