What is Macrolane?
Macrolane - the first hyaluronic acid based product for body shaping. It is based on Q-Med's unique and patented NASHA technology which has been used to produce beauty enhancement NASHA gels used in over 10 million treatments in over 70 countries worldwide. The safety and effectiveness of NASHA gels have been clinically proven and well documented in facial aesthetics for over 10 years.
What is NASHA gel?
NASHA gel is the crystal-clear gel consisting of stabilized hyaluronic acid, produced through Q-Med's patented NASHA technology. Biotechnologically manufactured hyaluronic acid (HA) undergoes a process where less than one percent of the HA is stabilized to form a stable three-dimensional network. The purity and non-animal origin of the HA used as raw material and the stabilization process produces a biologically degradable gel that enables a longer durability in the body and carries a minimal risk of transmission of infectious substances, in particular those of animal origin.
What are the benefits of Macrolane to patients?
Market research has shown there to be a significant number of women who would like to adjust the shape of their body in a natural, non-permanent way that does not involve the use of implants or body fat in a major surgical procedure. Many women are also very hesitant about undergoing general anaesthesia or being left with a scar. With Macrolane, the procedure is short and requires only local anaesthetic and minimal time away from work or after-work activities.
Is Macrolane right for me?
Macrolane is an innovative product currently indicated for volume restoration and shaping of body surfaces, for example, breasts, calves and buttocks. Macrolane can also even out discrepancies in the skin surface, for example, those caused by liposuction and surgical scars.
Can Macrolane be used for facial aesthetic treatments?
Macrolane is intended to be used for volume restoration and contouring of body surfaces. For facial aesthetic treatments, the Restylane® range of products is available.
What to expect during treatment with Macrolane?
General anaesthesia is not required. In most cases local anaesthesia might be sufficient. The procedure can be carried out in a clean environment, keeping hygienic conditions as those required for minor surgery. The procedure takes between 30 and 90 minutes depending on the site and quantity of gel injected.
What happens after a treatment with Macrolane?
After a treatment with Macrolane you can see the results instantly and you can return to your normal daily routine shortly after the treatment. However, some common injection-related reactions might occur including redness, swelling, tenderness, pain, bruising or itching. Reactions normally resolve spontaneously within a few weeks. During the first week after the treatment you should avoid strenuous exercise or any activity that could put pressure on the treatment area.
