Superficial Facial Peels
Chemical peels are used to reduce fine wrinkles, scars and blemishes by using a chemical exfoliating solution. This helps peel away the outer layers of the skin, thereby allowing new skin to regenerate.
The different types of chemical peels available are normally categorised by the strength of the acid solution used for the peel and how deeply it will affect the skin. The three common groups are known as Superficial Peels, Medium Depth Peels and Deep Peels.
We select products from a number of manufacturers, allowing us to match the right product for your particular skin type, condition and desired result. We are currently using products from Sesderma, Dermaceutics, Skintech and Mene & Moy.
From Dermaceutics we utilise their Milk Peel; a superficial peel for dull complexion, wrinkles, epidermal stimulation and smoothing effect.
How a Superficial Chemical Peel Works
Superficial peels normally use a naturally occurring acid found in fruits called glycolic acid. These are the mildest chemical peels and are excellent for improving a fresher, younger look with a reduction in skin imperfections such as acne or damaged skin. If you are looking for a more substantial effect, you may wish to consider a Medium Depth or Deep Facial Peel.
Is a Superficial Facial Peel Right for me?
As superficial peels are relatively mild acid peels, they are suitable for the widest range of skin types. There are however certain skin types and skin conditions that should not be treated with a skin peel. Please arrange a consultation for further advice.
What to expect during a Superficial Facial Peel Treatment
This is a quick and easy treatment. The face is cleansed and peel painted on and left for two to ten minutes. Mild stinging may occur. The peel is then washed off and neutralised. The skin will look pink afterwards and may show faint white discolouration or blotches which fade in one or two hours.
There are no after-effects, and you can go straight back to normal daily life. Repeat the treatment weekly for four to six weeks, and maintain the effect with a monthly peel.
How much does a Superficial Facial Peel cost?
Treatment costs vary. Schedule a personal consultation for more details.
